Supported IonicLiquidMembranes(SILMs)werepreparedwiththeacetatebasedRoomTemperature
Ionic Liquids(RTILs)1-ethyl-3-methylimidazoliumacetate([Emim][Ac]),1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium
acetate ([Bmim][Ac])andthemonomervinylbenzyltrimethylammoniumacetate([Vbtma][Ac])inorder
to performtheselectiveseparationofcarbondioxide(CO2) fromnitrogen(N2). TheRTILsweresupported
in apolyvinylidene fluoride porousmembraneandpermeationexperimentswereperformedinthe
temperaturerange298–333K.Gaspermeabilityincreaseswithtemperaturewhileanincreasein
temperatureleadstoadecreaseintheCO2/N2 selectivityforallthestudiedRTILs.CO2 solubility was
evaluatedintherange298–333Kandatmosphericpressureusingthermogravimetrictechniques.
Diffusion coefficients werecalculatedbasedonthesolution–diffusion theoryusinggaspermeability
and solubilitydata.Thetemperatureinfluence onthegaspermeability,solubilityanddiffusivityarewell
described intermsoftheArrhenius–van'tHoffexponentialrelationships.
